Radio DL

Download iPlayer radio programmes in MP3 format

Forum / Community Blog

Well... it's not really a forum, but you can use this page to leave comments, ask a question about Radio DL or make a request for a new feature.

This is a new section of the website and to be honest, I'm not really sure how it's going to be used, so I guess I'll just see what kind of comments people leave and we'll take it from there.

Well iDownload is still able to retrieve mp3 files and I assume the iPhone/iPod Touch files are still encoded as mp3s so I'm hoping it's not an insurmountable problem. Perhaps just a case of altering some code? Perhaps?

  2.

At the moment I've resorted to using Radio DL to search and find the programme ID and then using iPlayer Downloader to save the mp3 file. I heard that Auntie Beeb have been fiddling about again so I hope just a small code change will be all thats required :-)

  3.

I'm also having problems downloading - I tend to find the programme ID on iplayerconverter.co.uk then stick it into Radio DL to get the MP3 . Since the BBC have now also discontinued their old RealAudio streams I can't even use plan B which was to rip the .ra stream and convert to MP3. Bah.

Thanks to the community for these work-arounds. I'm going with prog id from iplayerconverter then stick into iplayer downloader (big thanks Jon) for a result. phew...getting my sanity back now. Hope Radio DL fixes soon - it's still the best lookin and great prog info display with search results.

I discovered the above at about the same time as Radio DL, after the RealAudio streams changed to mono only in about Feb 2009. Since then I have stuck with Radio DL because whenever it stopped working I would always find that there was already a new version available. I don't know how reliable http://po-ru.com/files/ipdl.exe has been in the past but it has successfully downloaded every bbc7 and radio4 program I've told it to get since Radio-DL stopped working, about 15 of them

It may complain about missing dll files, msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll, I just stuck them in the same folder as ipdl.exe, rather than putting them in system32 and registering them

Fix 2010.6.22 works perfectly! What a star you are Luke. There are other ways of saving streams (hidownload for example) but your app is far and away the most convenient to use. I don't suppose you're accepting donations for your work now?

Fantastic! Have you been skiing? Oh god it's not football is it.... I just went out to get a few cans from the local shop and everywhere was deserted, I deduced there was a match on

Fix works fine - very many thanks for your continued support to this very useful application. Like Joe before I too would be more than happy to make a donation!

  9.

Thanks so much for the fix. My days are enriched by being able to listen to radio shows at times of my choosing, thanks to Radio DL.

  10.

Hi just seen this page after giving up with Radio Downloader which just does not work.

This is downloadng quite slow. Is this normal please?

    Many thanks

Should have left this message earlier but better late than never.

Thank you for the latest update. We are lucky to have this superb software for nowt. Having to suddenly produce an update because something has changed without warning must, I imagine, be less than convenient for you. I am sure you have other things competing for your time. So thank you for your effort for us. Much appreciated.

Hi, is there anything I need installed in addition to Radio DL? I'm trying to get prog id b00tb8zg, the program info checks out ok but I get errors when I try to download the mp3. 1st attempt pops up 'An error occurred. It was not possible to determine the remote file location' 2nd try the error is 'Run-time error '35601'; Element not found'. When OK is hit on that one Radio-DL closes. Restart and retry goes through the same 2 errors.

  14.

I'm getting exacly the same error as Julian posted about on prog id b00tmhzq: An error occurred. It was not possible to determine the remote file location. then: Run-time error '35601'; Element not found'

    Rinse and repeat.

I noticed downloads had really slowed down over the last week or so, but now search won't find anything.

  16.

Me too, the search seems to have been blocked. I've found if you go to the programme information on the website and copy the code, this is one I used - b00tlhxz (Tom Ravenscroft's show) Paste it into the programme id box and click get mp3, hey presto the download starts.

  17.

Also can't search. Plus when I copied code b00lh0tl into programme ID box (copy and paste), got "Error the system cannot locate the object specified". Have the BBC altered something?

  18.

Still can't search, but instead of "Copy and paste" I typed the code b00lh0tl manually into the programme ID box. This was successful and I have been able to download.

  19.

I just tried your code and it works ok for me. I'm using version 2010.06.22

    Hope that helps.

  20.

I have been able to download file by typing the prog id into the box manually.

  21.

I am also have difficulty with the Programme search feature. Radio DL always respnds with "no results found" no matter what is entered in the search field.

  22.

As mentioned in the previous comments, the Programme Search feature is not working due to changes made to the iPlayer website.
I'm not going to make any promises about fixing it at the moment but in the meantime you can type (or copy and paste) the 8-character programme ID into either:
    - the Programme ID field on the Main Radio DL window or
    - use the "Add" button on the Programme Queue window

Please note: you can also copy and paste the full URL of your chosen programme from the address bar on the iPlayer website.

Thanks for letting us know Luke. We'll keep our fingers crossed for a patch :)
